In Conversation: On Stories, Connection, and Becoming an Author

From quiet beginnings to published pages

I’m really honoured to share something a little more personal with you today. I was recently featured in Bookish Banter by fellow author Lacey Ray, where we spoke about my writing journey — how it began, what shaped it, and the inspiration behind my work.

In this interview, I talk about the season of life that first led me to writing fiction, how fanfiction and its community gave me the courage to pursue publishing, and the heart behind both Long After You Left Me and Synergism.

Some of these reflections are ones I don’t often share in detail, and revisiting them was both grounding and meaningful.

Before turning to the interview, I’d also like to highlight Lacey Ray, whose work I’ve had the pleasure of exploring. With multiple titles available on Amazon and a recent release in audiobook format, she is an author whose voice continues to resonate within the genre.

ICE is officially out on audiobook!

I’ve included a few excerpts of my interview below, but I’d truly encourage you to read the full interview. Lacey Ray creates a space that thoughtfully highlights authors and their stories, and I’m so grateful to be included.

A heartfelt thank you to Lacey Ray for such a thoughtful and generous feature.

And to all of you! Thank you for continuing to read, support, and share these stories with me. It means more than I can ever fully express.

❤️JJ
